Code of Conduct

We are the Ancients of the Realm. We are an old guild with a storied history across many games. We have consistently distinguished ourselves as leaders, paragons of honor and the benchmark by which fairness, equality and dependability are determined. So that all may see the qualities that have been hallmarks of our success and longevity, this is the Code of Conduct.

1. Have FUN!
The first rule of the Ancients is that we, as a guild, have fun together. While we recognize that in-game goals and accomplishments are what drive many, these goals are of secondary importance to the fellowship and enjoyment we take in each other. An Ancient has a heart committed to having fun and doing their best to ensure fellow guildies also have fun.

2. Ancients Before Outsiders.
The guild exists as a band of merry friends who believe in the ideal we are together for the enjoyment of each others company. We support each other, prefer the company of each other and do whatever we can to help each other. We shout encouragement to members who struggle, we comfort those who have suffered, and we celebrate those who are victorious. Be eager to provide assistance to your fellows. We all will need help at some point and investment of your time with guildies will always be returned with interest. As we are a guild larger than just one game, this one rule above all others applies to every member.

3. Treat Everyone in a Spirit of Service and Respect.
Along with being an Ancient comes the responsibility for the reputation our guild enjoys. How we are perceived and what makes us who we are starts and stops with YOU. Remember that every one of you is an ambassador of AotR. Do not tarnish a reputation that has been carefully culled over multiple games. Whether they are a guild member or not or whether you get along with them or not it is your responsibility to treat everyone with respect, dignity and in a spirit of service.

4. Keep Voice Chat and Guild Chat to PG Level Language.
Please understand that many guildies have children and we strive to build an environment where everyone is comfortable so we ask you to control the use of profanity in guild and voice chat. The occasional slip in moments of stress is acceptable, but regular foul language in channels will not be tolerated. (This used to be PG13 level language, but movies have since loosened their requirements to allow just about any sort of language.)
